My new piece for soprano and piano “I tell you yet again…”will get the world premiere by Duo Kolarova Nørgård on 18th November in Roskilde, Denmark. Unfortunately I can’t join you for the concert but if you are in the city around, please come join them to listen to their repertory “SHAKESPEARES DAMER(SHAKESPEARES LADIES)”.

This piece “I tell you yet again…” is composed with the inspiration from Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” and I composed this while I was trapped in Bergen, Norway in this spring. I read Macbeth for the first time and got drawn into the scene the Lady Macbeth gets sleepwalking and says “Wash your hands” for many times.
That sentence has been heard everywhere almost for the last 10 months and people are still saying it everyday. The meaning of the sentence is obviously different between Shakespeare’s play and our real life but what does that sentence mean in coming 10years?

Also what I found interesting about this story is that Lady Macbeth is all the time Lady Macbeth. She doesn’t have a name. Or she might have name but we never know it. In the piece, I tried to represent the strong will and inner struggle of the woman with no name.

ソプラノとピアノのための新曲”I tell you yet again…”の世界初演がDuo Kolarova Nørgårdによって11月18日にデンマーク、ロスキレ市にて行われます。この作品はこの春、予期せずノルウェーに４ヶ月閉じ込められた「豊かな孤独の時間」（当初はかなり冒険的でしたfが、今振り返るとそう呼びたくなる時間でした。）に作曲しました。シェイクスピアのマクベスの一部から抜粋し、歌詞としています。マクベス夫人が夢遊病に陥り、何度も”Wash your hands（手を洗いましょう）”というシーンです。ここ１０ヶ月、何度も聞いたこの言葉。もちろんこの言葉の意味は、マクベスのお話の中と今直面している私たちの現実では異なりますが、この先10年この言葉がどういう意味を持つのか興味深いです。
今回の作品のタイトルであります”I tell you yet again…”、「もう一度言います」というこの言葉はマクベス夫人のセリフの一部でもあるのですが、この言葉に隠されたであろう彼女の強い意志を何か表現できないかと考えました。マクベス夫人はお話の中でも「マクベス夫人」としてしか登場せず、彼女の名前は誰も知りません。名前を持たぬ女性の隠された想いとは。
